Wicked windows

So, I don't really take much time to pay attention to architecture these days. I mean, I interact with architecture every day -- but rarely do I appreciate it. Having gone to school with the idea that I might contribute to architecture, sometimes that's a little depressing.

But recently, a good friend of mine has decided to return to school and study architecture. So that gives me a chance to talk about it some. Plus, we're 30-something and he's gone back to undergrad school -- so he's fodder for being made merciless fun of.

For some reason, I've been reading Joel on Software a lot the last couple days, and I came across a really, really cool article that he wrote a couple years ago right after moving into new offices. This is cool because I get to read about architecture as it influences programmers.

I think the implementation of light from two sides is brilliant. Here is a pirated image from his post:

(CYA: this image has been shamelessly stolen from Joel's post, and is not mine.
The copyright is fully owned by him.)

See the window on the wall between the two offices? It lets the occupant look through the window of the office next to hers. How cool is that?

Anyway, I just thought that was cool.
